Federal Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund invests in Town of Mono’s Baker Property
On Friday, February 1st, Dufferin-Caledon Member of Parliament David Tilson was on hand to announce a significant federal investment in the Town of Mono’s property on Hockley Road as part of the government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund. Mr. Tilson was joined by Town of Mono Mayor Laura Ryan and Councillor Fred Nix, Town of Mono staff, and representatives from the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association and the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Tilson announced that the Town of Mono will be the recipient of $83,333 to provide upgrades to their building on Hockley Road and to support the trail linkage to the nearby Island Lake trails. According to Mr. Tilson, “by helping to improve this facility we’re helping our community grow and making it a better place to live, work and play…our government’s investment will not only enhance the experience and services delivered locally, but will also support the creation of jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for Mono.”
The property on Hockley Road, affectionately known as the Baker property, is home to the offices of the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association and the Greater Dufferin Area of Commerce.
Ron Munro, Chair of the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association stated that “our offices on Hockley Road are a hub of social enterprise, where community organizations are working together to support our businesses and residents in the Headwaters region; the Town of Mono has been a strong supporter of our vision and our work, and this federal investment will further solidify the future of the work we are doing.”
Pete Renshaw, President of the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce commented that “our collaborative partnerships with the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association, Dufferin.biz and our other community partners are strengthened by the support we receive from the Town of Mono; we are grateful for their continued support and are appreciative of the funding received by the federal government for this investment in our offices on Hockley Road.”
The community is encouraged to visit the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association and the Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce at our offices at 246372 Hockley Road, Mono – the former home of the late Town of Mono Councillor, Reeve, and County of Dufferin Clerk, Harry Baker.
