Great Fall Drives – The Best of Fall Colours on Your Bike
Cycle the Caledon hills without the upside!
Here’s a short 22 km ride that takes in the grandeur of the Caledon countryside yet all but eliminates those real nasty up hills. How is this accomplished? Follow the route below that takes you on a combination of rail trail (for flat riding) and country road which offers you the open vistas and some thrilling down hills.
The ride starts in the Hamlet of Terra Cotta on Winston Churchill Blvd., at the rail trail just north of King St. There is limited parking at the side of the road or park in the Terra Cotta Conservation Area lot. The Town of Inglewood is the turn around point where you can stop for refreshments at the General Store or root around at the Caledon Hills Cycling & Nordic Shop. Note that the ride back to Terra Cotta is not the same so you do get the effects of a continuous round trip.
The rail trail is usually in good shape and the ride can be made with almost any type of bike.
