Township of Amaranth
The Township of Amaranth named after the plant that grows abundantly along the borders is located within Dufferin County and surrounded by the townships of Orangeville, Shelburne, and Grand Valley. Amaranth is made up of a diversity of residents, landscapes, rivers, wildlife and wetlands that make it one of a kind. The township provides recreational activities promoting health, well-being and teaching those from outside the area about the beautiful features the township has to offer.
One of Canada’s largest wetlands, Luther Lake, is spread throughout the township of Amaranth. Luther lake offers 32km of trails, providing people with many recreational activities in the summer and winter. Canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, and cycling are just some of the activities that are offered at the lake. There is also a part of the Elora Cateract Trail that runs through Amaranth giving residents more possibilities for an active lifestyle.
