Beth’s Story
Simple. I like to live a simple and uncomplicated life. I hope this philosophy is reflected in my beads. My goal is to make miniature works of art for everyone to enjoy every day.
I am trained as a biologist with an MSc in Plant Ecology and a passion for the Canadian north. I have travelled to the Arctic many times, both for work and for pleasure and this passion is reflected in many of my bead collections. Many years ago I worked in the eastern Arctic for York University, Environment Canada, Agriculture Canada, Indian and Northern Affairs, Laval University and Queen’s University on projects ranging from fish to plants to air quality. More recently I have done amazing canoe trips on the Yukon River and on the Horton River, both in the western Arctic. I love the simplicity of the northern ecosystem.
I began my journey in glass during an evening of stained glass with a collegue at work. That was all it took to be hooked on glass! After about 20 years of stained glass I discovered lampwork beads and a new passion was born.
I now live in the country, near Orangeville, Ontario with my two teenage boys, three cats and assorted wild beasts that regularly invade our living space.
