Cory Trepanier – Trepanier Originals

Artist Cory Trépanier is an oil painter with a passion for capturing Canada’s incredible wilderness on canvas. He has inspired many with the beauty of our lands, waters and skies. Close interaction with his subject through extensive exploration transforms his canvases into compelling paintings. Viewers are faced with more than a representation of a place and time; they are transported there through the artist’s unique vision.

Into The ARCTIC Project
In 2006, Cory launched his multi-year Into The ARCTIC project with the goal of creating a collection of 50 oil paintings from the remote corners of the Canadian north. He has since completed 3 extensive Arctic treks, exploring and preserving magnificent and fragile landscapes on canvas that are seldom seen or painted.
In addition, he’s been sharing this land with others. He has created 2 films (airing on CBC, and numerous other channels in Canada and abroad) and is on tour with his Into The Arctic II Film Tour, presenting our incredible north on the big screen in 8 cities to date, with more to come in 2012.

On his project website one can find almost 1000 photos, over 65 video journals, stories and much more. His project has also generated vast exposure for these landscapes through the media in appearances on national programs like Canada AM, and through interviews on television, radio and in print in each community that he has visited with his film tour.

Cory has also exposed others to the North that he has embraced through keynote speaking engagements. Some of these venues include the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario, the Plein Air Convention in Las Vegas at a conference of over 500 artists, and addressing media gathered from around the world on behalf of Parks Canada in Whitehorse, Yukon at the GoMedia Canada Marketplace.

The culmination ofthis artistic endeavour is to develop a touring exhibition of the Into The Arctic Collection of 50 paintings, one this he hopes will inspire others with our Canadian Arctic through his original and passionate vision of our north.
