We invite you to join in the first annual “StoMp the Mega Quarry” Saturday, July 28, 2012. A fundraising event organized by NDACT-North Dufferin Agricultural and Community Taskforce.

StoMp The Mega Quarry event will celebrate Ontario’s Prime Farmland and Fresh Water.

We are raising awareness and funds to directly support NDACT, a not for profit community organisation.  You are supporting the fight for food and water in Ontario, and are helping us to prevent the development of the proposed Highland Companies Mega Quarry in Melancthon.

All levels of walkers, runners and cyclists will experience a scenic, fun and challenging course that features rolling hills and the beautiful fertile countryside threatened by the proposed massive Mega Quarry. It’s an event for athletes, families and those who want to connect with a vital part of Ontario.

ALL are invited! Choose your distance.

• Walkers enjoy and discover the 5K or 10K Course
• Runners choose 5K, 10K. Half (21.1K) and Full Marathon (42.2K)
• Cyclists tour the 10K or Half Marathon (21.1K) Course

Enjoy a delicious post-race community BBQ feast and a party featuring local entertainers, great prizes and awards, race t-shirts and a sponsorship marketplace. It’s an event for athletes, families and all those who want to connect with a vital and beautiful part of Ontario.

NDACT’s mission is to preserve and protect the unique and non-renewable resources of North Dufferin County – including the Headwaters that supply Water to hundreds of thousands of Ontarians’, our exceptional Prime Agricultural Farmland and the environment, social economic and cultural characteristics that have been such an important and vibrant part of our community and its heritage for more than 150 years.

NDACT is an incorporated, not for profit, entity which was formed in January 2009 by concerned citizens from Melancthon and Mulmur Townships.

In 2011, the Canadian Chef’s Congress and NDACT hosted FOODSTOCK which was a huge success and attracted 28,000 people to the farmland adjacent to the proposed mega quarry site. It is clear Ontarians want to support this important cause.
