Quality Miniature Donkeys for the Next Generation

Since 1977 Keepsake Farm has been in the business of raising quality livestock, such as beef cattle, dairy goats, hunter horses, and South African mastiffs. Keepsake also maintained a small herd of registered miniature donkeys that were always the main attraction when visitors arrived.

Directly behind Keepsake Farm, Dr. Lemiski operated a successful equine stable on his fifty-five acre estate in scenic Rockwood. In 2005 it was decided to combine the skills, experience and facilities to devote our attention exclusively to raising quality miniature donkeys. We then set about the ambitious endeavour of acquiring the best foundation stock that would fit our criteria. We have acquired some of the best lines that can be traced back to original imports, to combine with our preference for dark spotted and true blacks.

Though donkeys have seen a real rise in popularity in the USA and western Canada, the same cannot be said for the eastern part of Canada. We aim to change this through education and by making ourselves and the joys of owning miniature donkeys readily available to the public.

The environment we have built in which to display them has been designed exclusively for donkeys, down to the last detail. We have provided a clean, friendly atmosphere for both people and donkeys.

When people come to visit and see first hand the care, love, and professionalism which are bestowed on the donkeys, our goal is that they will ask lots of questions, and come away smitten by these wonderful creatures.

In the future we plan to hold “Donkey Workshops” and fun days, geared towards potential donkey owners as well as seasoned donkey keepers. We supply the crackers and carrots (for the donkeys). All we ask of you is that you keep an open mind and be prepared to have your heart stolen away.
