Lyn Westfall Studios
Lyn Westfall’s long career in the arts has involved being a highschool Visual Arts Teacher while at the same time seriously pursuing her painting career. Such experiences as losing her father in WW II when Westfall was only 3 months old, entering the religious order of the Sisters of St. Joseph in London, Ontario, (where she remained for 12 years), to living in Caledon in a renovated century-old schoolhouse/studio/gallery with her husband Jim (Rod) Tramble, have all contributed to themes in Westfall’s art.
A major body of work resulted when a friend suggested that she listen to Gabriel Faure’s REQUIEM, after her mother’s death. With walkman in her apron pocket and many, many listenings, Westfall began to explore Faure’s REQUIEM – in paint. Each part of the music suggested certain colours, shapes, rhythms and painting techniques. The result was 17 paintings over a three year period. Westfall now has produced the DVD – LUX AETERNA (Eternal Light) – combining a selection of Faure’s music with Westfall’s paintings. This DVD can be purchased on site in the gallery or ordered on line from Lyn Westfall’s website lynwestfall.ca.
Lyn Westfall Studios invites the public to visit her Studio/Gallery to view her most recent work. Colourful Caledon landscapes capture the spirit of this beautiful scenic area. Abstract paintings, often inspired by music, are also on display. Occasionally Lyn invites the public into her large working studio, where her latest paintings – in process – can be viewed.
An appointment ensures that Lyn will be on hand to give a personal explanation of the artwork.
