Ken Whillans Resource Management Area

Ken Whillans Resource Management Area is named after Ken Whillans, former Mayor of Brampton and former Chair of the CVC Board. This area offers a range of recreational opportunities and outdoor experiences, such as fishing, hiking and canoeing. The unique scenic area is located partly on the Oak Ridges Moraine, partly in the Greenbelt and stretches below the towering cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment.

KWRMA features 88 hectares of warmwater habitats and wetland communities including swamps and marshes. Wetland areas act as sponges to absorb and clean water while providing essential habitat for wildlife. Two ponds with small fishing piers offer populations of sunfish, rock bass, largemouth bass and pike. Rainbow trout are also stocked periodically but cannot naturally reproduce in the warm water conditions.

The Credit River runs along the west side of KWRMA and is a designated fish sanctuary. This section of the river is managed as a coldwater community and supports fish, such as brown, brook and rainbow trout. With a fishing licence and by observing catch and release guidelines, sock up some time along the river. Please use only artificial bait and single barbless hooks.
