Cloud Hill Images
Creating unique images, in a local natural setting. Landscapes and macro studies [close up, enlarged, with dramatic details magnified ] suitable for home display. Working in both 35mm and digital formats, my Clouds Hill Images characterize the splendor and wonder of the Headwaters Area through the seasons, emphasizing form, play of light, with vibrant colour or dark and moody subject matter.
Photographic Interests and Influences
I studied photography many years ago at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, and have been inspired to learn and photograph ever since. I am greatly influenced by art, especially Canadian art, and the art of Canadian photographers Courtney Milne and Freeman Patterson, as well as American Tim Fitzharris. What interests me is to look at what is common around us, to see it in a different way not usually experienced, and to view the abstract features of nature in the close- up. I look for aspects of the natural world that are missed because they are overlooked or cannot be clearly seen. The serendipity of the moment of discovering the unusual, and capturing it to share is exciting. Having witnessed for over 20 years the changes and stress on the rural landscape and its inhabitants, it has become important to me to document what I see and experience here. Living in the beautiful Erin Hills is an infinite source of inspiration and subject matter. Travel experiences and lifelong year round stays in the Muskoka Region, also provide fertile ground for creating images of a somewhat different nature.
Prints are archival quality, commercially or custom produced, and available in sizes suitable to the image, framed and unframed. Macro studies in a 5×7 size, attractively framed, become small jewels on display, enhancing and contrasting any type of collection, or grouped together, become a collection in their own right.
Framed landscape and macro studies are on display and available for sale at the Alton Mill Gallery and the Wellington Artist’s Gallery.
