SUMMARY:Contrasting Energies:  Freda Wrench and John Ashbourne
DESCRIPTION:Painting and sculpture inspired by the natural environment and the human form.\n\nFreda Wrench's painting subjects are diverse\, but often return to the human figure\, sometimes abstracting it and often incorporating it into the natural environment. Her training started with an Honours Degree in Fashion Design\, but ongoing education\, and jurying for Headwaters Art Gallery Committee has enabled her to critique and develop her own work.\n\nJohn Ashbourne's sculpture often uses the natural qualities and textures of wood. It takes its cue from animal and natural forms as well as the abstraction of spatial relationships. His work has been exhibited nationally\, and across Ontario. SUMMARY:The OPP Museum’s Traveling Exhibit Arresting Images
DESCRIPTION:The DCMA is pleased to present the OPP Museum’s special travelling exhibition\, Arresting Images. Arresting Images features 100 mug shots (1886 – 1908)\, which document a unique historic encounter between the police of the time\, and suspects and criminals of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Also on display will be several artifacts and anecdotes from the (no longer standing) Dufferin County jail. On the opening day\, OPP Staff Sergeant Steven Sills (Detachment Commander) and Constable Paul Nancekivell will be in attendance. Great Family Fun with Orangeville Police’s K-9 Demonstration\, finger printing\, mug shot photo booth and facial recognition activities. We even have a jail cell to lock you up in!
