When the restored Orangeville Town Hall and Opera House re-opened in July 1994, many local residents felt as though they were home again. They were likely remembering the regret they felt when back in 1971, the town's council chamber moved into part of the Opera House and the rest of the upper floor was converted into offices.
According to a history of the Town Hall prepared by the Dufferin County Museum and Archives: "There was much regret, still felt by many present day citizens of the town, over the loss of the "Opera House" which had been the scene of almost one hundred years of public gatherings".
