Towns and Villages

Festive Fun in the Hills of Headwaters!

This holiday season, let food take centre stage as part of your celebratory festivities. But don’t feel the need to get bogged down in the kitchen yourself. Escape for a quiet meal after a day of shopping or take a group of friends or colleagues to one of our award-winning restaurants and treat yourself to a Christmas present of a fine meal, prepared by one of the area’s many culinary artists.

While you’re here, shopping in the Hills of Headwaters offers a stress-free, old fashioned solution to Christmas. You can take the pace a little slower and enjoy your surroundings. From home décor, to antiques, to contemporary clothing, musical instruments, chocolate and fine foods, lingerie, fine art, books and more, it’s all available right here.

Once the shopping is done and you are ready for the tree cutting, visit a local tree farm such as Wintersinger’s in Hillsburgh, where you can not only pick out the type and size of tree you like, but also treat yourself to a horse or tractor drawn wagon ride and a cup of cocoa by the roaring campfire. The Dufferin Garden Centre in Orangeville offers trees, greenery and seasonal decorations that will take your breath away. A selection of pre-cut trees is also available at Botanix Alton Greenhouses, Albion Orchards and Downey’s Farm Market in Caledon.

The merchants in the towns & villages of Headwaters look forward to your visit this season, many of them offering special downtown holiday events for you to enjoy!

Grown in the Hills

“Grown in the Hills” Campaign Awarded Silver!

Annette Turturici, Chairperson of the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association and owner of the Inglewood Antique Market, was in attendance at the Ontario Tourism Marketing Awards in Toronto to accept Silver in the Best Tourism Advertising category for the Tourism Association’s ‘Grown in the Hills’ advertising campaign. The radio campaign, funded by the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, ran for seven weeks on two major Toronto radio stations during the summer of 2007.

“We are particularly proud of this award because the entire advertising campaign: the concept, copywriting, web site and radio production was created by experts located here in the Hills”, said Chairperson Turturici.

The award recognizes a radio campaign that piqued the interest of upscale couples in the GTA with a series of vignettes with the theme of “Grown in the Hills.” The campaign featured local business owners, chefs and farmers showcasing the area’s agricultural and culinary connection to the Greenbelt.
