Come Sample our Spectacular Scenery, Stable Tour and Inspired Artistic Talent this Fall!

Spectacular scenery and inspired artistic talent make the Hills of Headwaters a favourite fall destination.  Every rural back road, from Creemore to Terra Cotta, is a potential great fall drive and a chance to sample the magnificent landscapes so often transformed on the artist's canvas. Century homes, schoolhouses and historic buildings rejuvenated into studio space offer a glimpse of the region’s proud heritage.

Head to the Hills of Headwaters for the inaugural Headwaters Stable Tour on September 13th & 14th. Get a behind-the-scenes look at some of Ontario’s finest equine stables. Just hop in your car, and follow the map to this weekend of FREE fun family entertainment!

Fall in the Hills of Headwaters offers so many delightful ways to experience art first-hand.  Beginning with the opening night of professional live theatre at Theatre Orangeville on September 26th and the launch of the Headwaters Arts Festival that same evening, fall in the Hills of Headwaters offers visitors and residents alike a personal journey of creativity. Orangeville Music Theatre and Century Church Theatre band together to present: ‘Nunsense’, September 12 – 28 and the Laura Berry Gallery in picturesque Hockley Village hosts ‘meet the artist’ September 20, 21, 27 & 28.

Sample the wealth of talented artisans at the Hills of Erin Studio Tour and Caledon Hills Studio Adventure, both September 27 & 28.  Sign-up the kids for ‘Kidsfest’ and plan for stop over at Downey’s Farm for Pumpkinfest while you’re here. Or step back in time at the Dufferin County Museum and the Traces Exhibit and Festival.

With over 50 arts events scheduled for the region’s signature arts event, the Headwaters Arts Festival, September 26 – October 13, a visit to the Hills of Headwaters this fall may even inspire you to be a little more creative yourself!

Arts Abound in the Hills of Headwaters

Murder on the Headwaters Express!

A Murder Mystery Dinner Tour aboard the Credit Valley Explorer Tour Train

On October 25th, treat yourself to a truly suspenseful evening aboard Orangeville’s own Credit Valley Explorer Tour Train! Enjoy a four-hour dinner tour through the Hills of Headwaters but be careful, you never know who might be lurking in the seat behind you!

Where will the murder take place? Will the train be stopped while crossing the harrowing trestle at the Forks of the Credit in order to remove a body from the track? And who dunnit? Guests will be participants in the unraveling of the Murder on the Headwaters Express from the moment they board the train until the intriguing conclusion.

Hosted by the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association, the event includes a four-hour scenic tour aboard the Credit Valley Explorer, a three-course dinner, cash bar, and a lethal dose of suspense and intrigue.

Caledon Hills Studio Adventure

In the Hills of Caledon, Ontario, September 27-28, 2008, 10:00am-5:00pm

Ten local artists and their guest artists in six studios open their doors on this self – guided tour. The Artists will be on site in their studios to discuss their work, which will be available for sale. In addition, each Artist will direct you to their “Artist’s Pick” – a favourite local attraction, which will enhance your visit to the area!

See a very diversified selection of works of art including: acrylic and oil paintings, photography, textiles, glass, turned wood vessels, jewellery, carved walking sticks, pottery and indoor and garden stone sculpture.
