Dog Days of Summer

JULY 2008 ISSUE

Summer Events

There’s lots to do close-by this summer in the Hills of Headwaters

Ah… the welcoming warm rays of summer sunshine inspire many to take to the country roads on the weekends or even on weekdays in the early evening for a leisurely drive in the Hills.

Located throughout the Hills of Headwaters, in vintage carriages houses, sophisticated village shops, spacious old barns and a multitude of other fascinating buildings are our Headwaters Antique Dealers each with rooms of treasures from the past.

For the architectural enthusiast, Doors Open in the Hills of Headwaters offers a full day or weekend of heritage hunting August 16 and 17.

In the Village of Hillsburgh, the Century Church Theatre presents Quartet, July 9 - 19, a comedy about three very different ‘inmates’ of a home for retired opera singers.

Horse events also abound this time of year here in the Hills. Check out Teen Ranch, the Caledon Equestrian Park and the Orangeville Fair Grounds, each offer a host of equestrian events this summer. And don’t forget to mark the date (September 13 and 14) for the inaugural Headwaters Stable Tour – a behind the scenes opportunity to visit some of the finest stables and training facilities in southern Ontario.

For avid golfers, there remains still a handful of Headwaters Golf Trail passes. Pass holders receive one round of golf at each of six premiere Headwaters Golf Trail courses for an incredible rate of only $295 (regular price $440).

Looking for gardening tips? Pair your drive in the Hills with a gardening seminar at David Warburton’s Gardens at King Fisher Cottage.

Finally, for those who love food, join us in the third annual presentation of SummerFeast, August 11 – September 5 and discover the culinary prowess of our Hills of Headwaters chefs at an incredible price.

Fore the Animals Golf Tournament

We need your help to make the Fore the Animals Golf Tournament a success.

Held at the Caledon Country Club September 8, 2008. The Fore the Animals golf tournament is an important fundraising event for the Ontario SPCA Orangeville and District Branch and the Upper Credit Humane Society. Both organizations rely primarily on the involvement and generosity of the communities in which we operate to care for hundreds of homeless animals every year. Proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to help us continue our work caring for the animals at both animal shelters and adoption centres, spaying and neutering adoption animals, and investigating reports of cruelty and neglect towards animals.

Come for a fantastic day of golf, lunch, dinner and prizes. Become a sponsor or donate tournament prizes, door prizes or silent auction items.

Barc Summer Camp

Send your kids to BARC (Basic Animal Responsibility Camp)

From fins and frog feet to wings and claws, it’s an animal camp for your little animals. Er, kids.

Send your kids to BARC (Basic Animal Responsibility Camp) this summer, and they’ll learn not only how to behave responsibly toward animals, but they’ll also gain knowledge and information to help them create a more humane world in general. With four themes to this summer’s camp (for kids aged 7 – 12), topics covered will range from animals that preside over the skies to those that swim the earth’s waters and just about everything in between. Beyond learning about the animals in these environments, children will be provided an extraordinary opportunity to further develop their life’s toolbox of curiosity, creative and analytical skills, as well as the motivation to face humane challenges with integrity.

This is a wonderful camp, designed to keep children constantly engaged by feeding their instinctive desires to learn about the world around them. Visit our web link below or call 519.942.3140 – we’d love to tell you more.
