Great Fall Drives
Fall is the perfect time to leave the highways behind, and travel the back roads to some of the most dramatic scenery in Ontario. Here, on the country side roads, is where you’ll find the undulating and rolling landscapes of Caledon, Erin and Dufferin. Away from the levelled highways, you’ll see the full effect of nature at its most powerful; as it created a landscape forged by powerful tectonic forces couples with Ice Age reconstruction and finally engraves by raging glacial rivers.
Out here you can slow down to admire the view. Pull over to look for fish in the stream. Stop and admire the old church or heritage stone fence. In one of the many towns and villages that dot the landscape you can stop and look around. Our towns are filled with fascinating shops to explore. While some shop, others can admire the extraordinary workmanship of days gone by in the many heritage buildings that line the streets. Take your pick of over a dozen trails and parks, some with panoramic views of the stunning landscape.
If the tranquility of the landscape has you wanting more, stay another day…a bed and breakfast or a room at a fine inn or resort awaits; some offering special fall packages. Tomorrow, before you head home, look for a road that leads down through the trees into the valley, or up to a breathtaking outlook for one last view of the splendour of autumn, at its best – here in the Hills of Headwaters.
