Original Paintings
Rosemarie has been sketching and painting since the age of fifteen when her mother Helga introduced her to the Orangeville Art Group. She attended drawing and sculpture classes with her mother for several years prior to attending university.
During almost forty years as a fine artist, she has explored a wide variety of media and subject matter including landscapes, floral and wildlife scenes, and contemporary or historical buildings. Compositions are primarily realistic in their form and style. Rosemarie’s paintings, sketches and commissioned works can be found in many homes and private collections throughout Ontario, Canada and abroad.
Rosemarie often works outdoors, or combines field work with studio time in order to create a new painting. Each composition begins with an adventure whether it is close to home or farther abroad. Her fascination with the changing moods of the natural world may lead her to rugged, windswept coastlines, old growth forests, a tiny island in a crystal sea, or her own colourful backyard.
At this stage in her artistic career, Rosemarie is exploring the use of a limited palette while expressing subject matter with movement and emotion. Paintings may excite your senses or calm your spirit. She works primarily with acrylic paints but recent paintings involve oils in the final phase, a technique which leads to moving and textured canvases. Presently, Rosemarie is working on a special series depicting Ontario's backcountry, its windswept fields, old barn foundations, implements and sideroads.

Background & Experience
Most picture framers begin their business with limited knowledge of the trade but plenty of courage. I was first introduced to picture framing at the age of seventeen, in the context of a family-owned business which included decorating, art supplies and custom framing. A veteran of two world wars, and a veteran picture framer, taught me the rudiments of the trade, which involved much more than the use of tools and machinery.
I learned from Harry that picture framing requires a great amount of creativity, skill and continuous practice. Works of art on paper, board or canvas, photographs, or memorabilia require different framing approaches, materials and tools. If presented with a new project beyond my experience, I know how and where to find the answers to do the job. There is always more to learn, and that helps to make this trade so exciting!
