Mrs. Mitchell's Restaurant Celebrates 30 Years in Business!
We would like to take this opportunity to heartily thank all of our many guests, suppliers and staff for your patronage, partnership and support. We feel rich in the relationships that we have developed over these 30 years and we are proud of our place in the tiny hamlet of Violet Hill, which has been our home for even longer.
Our longevity reflects a reliable demand for the kind of fine dining experience that we have always aspired to deliver: a consistent menu, high quality ingredients and recipes, professional service and an escape to the 17th century with the hospitable warmth of our Colonial Williamsburg backdrop. We've learned that deep roots and high standards never go out of style.
We feel blessed to have been able to take part in some of your most memorable life events - engagements, weddings, birthdays, retirements. Your family is our family and we look forward to serving you for generations to come. We raise a glass to you as we look forward to the next 30 years!
Maureen, Jim & Heidi
Mrs. Mitchell's - A History
In 1980 Jim and Maureen Baufeldt bought a property on the Mono-Mulmur Townline which included a building that had been, until 1968, a one-room schoolhouse. They learned of the school's rich history from one of its former teachers, Mrs. Esther Mitchell, who had presided over Mulmur Township School Section 2 for over 20 years. In honour of her dedication to teaching the children of their home community, the Baufeldts named their restaurant after her and Mrs. Mitchell's Restaurant opened its doors. The rest, as they say, is history.
