RCMP "The Charge" bronze statue by Wayne Hyde and the Old Downtown Gallery.
We are proud to be working together with sculptor Wayne Hyde on a unique joint project to produce the first ever bronze sculpture of the "The Charge" from the proud finale of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Musical Ride. The sculpture will embody the pride, passion, energy, and emotion of that powerful moment when the finely trained horses and riders of the Musical Ride end the show with “The Charge.” The clay version is being packaged to be sent to the foundry for casting as of May 23rd. An exciting time waiting for the finished product whereby we can finally provide images for all to see. Stay tuned ..... How This Project Came To BeWe had the idea for the bronze and approached the Mounted Police Foundation. They were very interested by the proposal and what they saw in Hyde’s work and granted the Old Downtown Gallery the license to proceed with the project. This licensing program is managed by the Foundation to protect the image of the RCMP, to ensure that the image only appears on quality Canadian products, plus to develop a program that gives back to Canadian communities. As with all such products, a percentage of the selling price is passed to the Mounted Police Foundation for distribution to community concerns such as Boys and Girls Clubs, anti-violence and anti-drug programs, and safety/crime prevention programs. With a limited edition of 70 statues, approximately 16 inches in length from furthest points and 14 inches high – mounted on a Canadian granite and wood base – it is sure to be stunning. It is scheduled for release in June 2007. Pre-orders are being accepted now -> Call (800) 903-8626 or (519) 942-2010 for more information or drop by the gallery at 61 Broadway.
