The Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival is entering it's 10th year and will take place on May 31 to June 3rd 2012. Known for the high quality of it's musical acts and family friendly atmosphere, it has become a major event in the area attracting over 32,500 people last year. The festival is a not for profit volunteer organization who's mission is to promote an appreciation of the art of blues and jazz music through an annual festival and events.
When asked about the importance of the fundraising efforts for the festival Ryan said.. ""The February Bash is one of the festival's major fundraising events and it's importance to the festival should not be taken lightly. As a musician, having an opportunity to play at a major festival in your hometown is incredible, and the opportunities created by the festival for young musicians are something that we can't really put a price on. Let's show our support and keep the festival in a position to provide such amazing music to the community."
Festival founder and artistic director Larry Kurtz will be playing with his Special Guest Paul James. He is excited about playing that night with Paul who is well known to the Orangeville audience. "I think the show will be a memorable one not to be missed!" When asked why people should support the festival, Larry replied.. "The festival provides many benefits beyond having a great weekend of free music. It has a positive economic benefit for the area especially this upcoming year when times are hard for many people and buisnesses. I know the musicians really appreciate the opportunities to perform for a larger audience, especially the emerging new young artists. People discover new music every year that they may not have been exposed to otherwise. The part that is most important I think is the spiritual lift that occurs when everyone is welcome and comes together during the festival. It really enhances our quality of life in Orangeville"
